History:

Adnexal Tumours associated with Syndromes Another reason why it is important to correctly identify these adnexal tumours is their association with underlying cancer syndromes. The three commonest that we see clinically are listed below with their associated adnexal tumours.

Muir Torre - Sebaceous adenomas and Sebaceous carcinoma - Gut polyps and carcinoma   Dermnet Clinical Muir Torre

Cowdens Syndrome - Trichilemmomas, Tumour of follicular infundibulum - Breast, Gut and thyroid cancers   Dermnet Cowden's Clinical

Birt Hogg Dube - Perifollicular fibromas, Trichodiscomas, Fibrofolliculoma - AD Tendency to Renal carcinoma and pulmonary cysts leading to pneumothorax.   Dermnet Clinical Birt Hogg Dube syndrome

Gardners syndrome Hybrid cysts such as a cyst with epidermoid and pilomatricoma features should make you think of Gardners syndrome with gut polyps and carcinoma.
