Site Name: Lymphohistiocytic infiltrate

A lymphohistiocytic infiltrate is the commonest dermal and epidermal infiltrate in inflammatory skin diseases. It's presence does not signify that the disease is chronic. A lymphocytic proliferation may be a lymphoma. Special stains are necessary to determine the nature of the lymphocytes either B or T cell. However B cell disorders tend to be nodular in the dermis while T cell lymphomas have a more lichenoid distribution and invade the epidermis.
