Comments: Sections show a biopsy of skin in which there is an abscess within the dermis. The abscess cavity contains purulent exudate. The abscess is lined by inflamed granulation tissue. The surrounding dermis is fibrotic and the overlying epidermis shows some reactive hyperplasia. No granulomas can be seen and there is no evidence of fungal or mycobacterial organisms.
