Differential DiagnosisHistory: 2068cm This man has had these keratotic areas on his lip for 2 years. Previous biopsies elsewhere reported as solar keratosis and another as fungal infection. He was allergic to griseofulvin. Clinically scc or verrucous carcinoma. Inside mouth clear. Punch biopsy of thickest area.
Description: Superficially invasive SCC
Comments: Sections show a biopsy of a superficially invasive, well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. There is thick overlying keratosis. There is no evidence of inflammation and no fungal organisms are present.
